Baku. Vusal Nabiyev – APA-Economics. The State Customs Committee held a meeting with businessmen on February 28, the Committee told APA.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic, Lieutenant General of Customs Services Aydin Aliyev noted that today’s meeting with businessmen held on the eve of the global financial crisis is not accidental. This meeting with entrepreneurs is of great importance in terms of sharp drop in oil prices in the world market, as well as devaluation of the Azerbaijani national currency.
He said that non-constructive activities of some “businessmen” like artificial increase of prices are unacceptable and such cases caused confusion among the population. He stressed that this meeting was aimed at the elimination of such negative cases and increasing efforts to solve the existing problems.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee, Lieutenant General Safar Mehdiyev gave detailed information about comprehensive measures taken by the customs authorities to minimize the impact of the recent global financial crisis on the economy of Azerbaijan and certain discounts on customs valuation during import-export operations.
The entrepreneurs said that they would further fulfill all the tasks to ensure economic stability in the country.
Then the questions of businessmen were answered.
Head of the State Service for Antimonopoly Policy and Consumer Protection under the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development Zahid Isayev also attended the meeting.
