Moscow. Farid Akbarov – APA. Russia is hopeful of dialogue with the West.

The statement came from Russian FM Sergei Lavrov at an event held on the occasion of the start of the new school year at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the APA correspondent to Moscow reports.

“We need to discuss disagreements with our partners. We hope they will show the same attitude towards us, not blame us for all issues, and express their objections in an honest manner. If this doesn’t happen, we’ll come to the conclusion that criticism is needed only to justify ultimatums and sanctions”, said the Russian FM in front of future diplomats.

Lavrov also said the U.S. and the European Union must demand the Ukrainian government ceases use of heavy artillery and aviation against civilians: “Washington and Brussels must demand what they demand in other conflicts. Moscow is confident that it needs to get back to pragmatic partnership in its relations with the U.S. and the European Union. It should be on the basis of mutual respect and equal rights. To do that, it’s certainly necessary to renounce the unpromising policy of threatening, ultimatum, and sanction”.
