Ukrainian Presidents agrees with opposition’s major demands

Baku – APA. President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych has put forward several initiatives to put an end to unrests and political crisis in the country. The statement by Yanukovych has been posted on the president’s website, APA reports.

In the statement, President Yanukovych initiated a return to 2004 Constitution. The constitutional reforms will be started immediately to regulate the authorities of president, parliament and government and this process will end in September, 2014. Consequently, the president’s authorities will be reduced, the role of parliament and government will be increased.

The President also agreed with the major demand of the opposition to hold early presidential elections. It is planned to hold the elections after the constitutional reform, but no later than December, 2014. A new electoral legislation will be adopted till the election and a new Central Election Commission will be formed on a pro rata basis in accordance with the standards and recommendations of the OSCE and the Venice Commission.
