Baku. Shahriyar Alizadeh – APA. Chairman of the public union "For Human Rights" human rights activist Eynulla Fatullayev has held a press conference today, APA reports.

Fatullayev said that a number of human rights activists are conducting studies in Azerbaijan: “Everyone has independently conducted studies in Azerbaijan up to now. No one has been prevented. We also conducted monitoring on Germany. To the question “Why Germany?”, I want to say that to my mind, Germany is the most democratic and developed country of Europe. That’s why we started our monitoring from Germany.”

Fatullayev said he was shocked to see how the demonstration in Frankfurt was dispersed: “I had good relations with the German embassy. However, I encountered a strange attitude after returning to Baku. So, it means that the relations are good, if you praise and bad if you criticize. I was demanded to announce the source of financing. I said that one of the organizations supporting the project is “Black Sea Trust”. Germany’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent a letter to that organization. What does it mean? It means that you exert influence on organizations. What would have happened, if I had named the source of finance correctly? So it means that Azerbaijan can be criticized, but Germany can not. I am told by the foundations that German Foreign Ministry does not recommend them to cooperate with us. But I thought German embassy would be grateful to me. Representative of the Amnesty International Max Tucker writes to me if I am arrested again, they will not defend me. I do not need such defense. I want to declare that the Amnesty International is majorly financed by Germany. I will appeal to Angela Merkel so that those who have done it are punished. This is unbecoming of Germany.

Representative of the German embassy in Azerbaijan Frederick Hanke attending the event said Germany did not create any problems for Eynulla Fatullayev’s project.

“Black Sea Trust itself has appealed to us. We do not say that Germany can not be criticized. But the problems of Germany and Azerbaijan are different,” he said.
