“The information released regarding the visit of the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, to Armenia places particular emphasis on the right of Armenians who voluntarily left Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region to return,” the Western Azerbaijan Community said in a statement, APA reports.
It was stated that although the Western Azerbaijan Community has previously addressed several appeals to various institutions of the Council of Europe, for some reason, those bodies have not expressed a position regarding the return of Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands in Armenia: “The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessors, as well as those of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, to abandon the policy of drawing dividing lines in matters of human rights, and to issue a public statement supporting our right to return to Armenia.”
