“During the UN Security Council meeting initiated by Armenia on August 16, 2023, the Armenian side has once again made accusations against Azerbaijan about the humanitarian situation allegedly stemmed from Azerbaijan's actions against the Armenians living the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. This meeting once again showed that the real essence of Armenia's policy is territorial claims against Azerbaijan and interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs,” the Western Azerbaijan Community told APA.

The fact that Armenia, which had expelled more than one million Azerbaijanis from their homeland that it captured during the military invasion and kept under occupation for 30 years, and did not allow them to return, is now trying to accuse Azerbaijan of some humanitarian issue is hypocrisy.

During the war in 2020, immediately after the end of hostilities Azerbaijan provided an opportunity for Armenians displaced from Azerbaijan's Karabakh region to return to their homes in safety. The Azerbaijani side, which is currently working on their reintegration, ensures the supremacy of its Constitution and human rights while strengthening the foundations of sustainable peace in the region.

One of Armenia's key motives for pursuing a policy of mono-ethnicity and ethnic discrimination in preventing the reintegration of Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan is that the possible successful coexistence of representatives of the two peoples in Azerbaijan will enhance the prospects for the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia.

The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on the international community to condemn Armenia's policy of territorial expansion and mono-ethnic ideology, which pose a great threat to international peace and security, and to put pressure on Armenia to immediately withdraw its armed formations it has illegally deployed on the territory of Azerbaijan and stop hindering the reintegration of Armenians living there. The Community also renews its call on the international community to support the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to their homes.

At the same time, the Western Azerbaijan Community strongly condemns France's systematic hostile attitude towards Azerbaijan, which it displays on all platforms, as evidenced by the recent meeting of the UN Security Council. The Western Azerbaijan Community calls on official Paris to abandon its policy of Azerbaijanophobia and not abuse its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council," the community added.
