The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been granted representation with observer status in the American Police Forces Union (AMERIPOL) as part of the 5th Extraordinary Summit of the organization’s Board of Directors, the Ministry’s Press Service told APA.
The relevant status is of great importance in terms of expanding the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ cooperation with the relevant law enforcement agencies of AMERIPOL member states, facilitating the mutual exchange of information and best practices within the framework of international police cooperation, as well as increasing opportunities to participate in the organization’s relevant events.
The observer status also serves to further develop international cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, illicit drug trafficking, cybercrime, extremism, human trafficking and other modern threats.
