Geomagnetic storm is expected on November 20
# 20 November 2023 12:05 (UTC +04:00)

During the past three days, solar activity has been at a normal background rate. Starting from November 20, the strengthening of the solar wind parameters can be observed, the Department of Astrophysics, Faculty of Physics of Baku State University (BSU) told APA.

It is predicted that the geomagnetic field will become active as a result of weak coronal mass ejections (CMEs) that occurred on November 16, and a G1 (mild) level geomagnetic storm may occur. The geomagnetic field is likely to return to a calm level from November 22. Currently, the solar wind is observed to have a velocity of 300–360 km/s.

A G1(mild) level geomagnetic storm is predicted on December 5. The average value of the Kp coefficient, which characterizes the geomagnetic index of the magnetic storm, will change in the range of 2-5 for November 20-26, 2023.
