“In recent days, we are rightfully deeply concerned about the increase in cases of aggressive and degrading expressions against Azerbaijanis, especially on Armenian media outlets, social media in particular,” Sabina Aliyeva, the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Azerbaijan Republic said, APA reports.
“We believe that, especially in the current sensitive period where peace talks are crucial, such negative actions, which promote hostility by some people of Armenian origin, serve disruptive purposes and are unacceptable. Ethnic-based hate speech calls, which are a manifestation of Azerbaijaniphobia policy hinder not only the relations between Aze4rbaijan and Armenia but also the overall sustainable peace and security in the region,” she noted.
