IDPs will also be relocated to Khojaly and Khankendi this year, State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.
The Committee noted that it is planned to resettle internally displaced persons from those places to Khojaly city and Malibeyli village of the district, to the Karkijahan settlement of Khankendi city.
At present, the relevant structural department of the State Committee is surveying the families of IDPs who are expected to be resettled in 2024, as well as the registered IDPs in the mentioned areas.
It was noted that necessary measures are being taken to determine the number of families who will return to their homeland, to assess their social status and employment opportunities, to inform and propagate among the population, and to resolve the technical and organizational issues of resettlement.
IDPs registered in Khojaly city and Malıbeyli village of the district, Karkijahan settlement of Khankendi city will live in those places where they lived before the occupation and after the end of the occupation, as a result of the repair and restoration works carried out based on the instructions of the head of state, they will settle in the houses where all the necessary living conditions have been created.
The list for resettlement to newly constructed apartments is selected primarily from among families living in various temporary housing facilities such as dormitories, sanatoriums, and unfinished buildings in emergency and difficult conditions, and objectivity and transparency in their placement is ensured by drawing lots.
