“Thank God, we have won our first medals," said the Vice President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, Firdovsi Umudov, in his statement to the employee of the Apasport.az website, who was dispatched to the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
He stated that they dedicate this achievement to the people of Azerbaijan.
“On this occasion, I congratulate all the fans and our people. Nuray will turn 15 in December. This is a very big result, a great success. Her determination made us, as a federation, very happy as well. Moreover, this success coincided with a great day for our nation – Victory Day. We dedicate this medal to the Azerbaijani nation, especially to our Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Ilham Aliyev. Inshallah, our successful results will continue. Other weightlifters who have the potential to win medals will also compete soon. This success is the result of the joint efforts of our state, the National Olympic Committee, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.”
It should be noted that our 15-year-old weightlifter, Nuray Əbilova, won 3 bronze medals in the 48 kg weight category.
