Paris 2024 Olympic medals of Azerbaijani athletes to be replaced after tarnishing

Work has begun on the return and replacement of medals won by Azerbaijani athletes at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games that later became tarnished, Apasport.az reports.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has contacted the medal manufacturer, the Chaumet jewelry house, which operates under the LVMH group, regarding the issue.

The company stated that the order has been placed in the queue and the replacement of the tarnished medals is being carried out in stages.

Currently, it is the turn for the replacement of the tarnished medals of Azerbaijani athletes.

In the coming days, the National Olympic Committee will send the medals to France, where they will be replaced with new ones.

First, the medals of taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov and Greco-Roman wrestling medalist Hasrat Jafarov will be sent.

According to the information, the production of the new medals will take approximately 3–5 weeks.
