I would like to highlight President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s special role in attracting investment to Karabakh, President Ilham Aliyev said in a joint press statement with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, APA's special correspondent reports.
“I would like to highlight President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s special role in attracting investment to Karabakh. The first assistance was provided by Uzbekistan – the construction of the Mirzo Ulugbek school with a capacity of 960 students, investment in garment production in Khankendi, and the establishment of the first major industrial enterprise are also associated with Uzbekistan. We also have future plans to continue cooperation in the Karabakh region and many other regions of Azerbaijan.
“It is also noteworthy that during today’s events marking the inauguration or groundbreaking of numerous projects – by my count, there were around 10 or more – projects being implemented not only in Baku and Tashkent but also in other regions were presented. Of course, the main focus is on Baku and Tashkent, but other regions are also within the scope of our cooperation.
“Yesterday’s forum on interregional cooperation was also of great practical interest. In other words, we are joining our efforts and creating synergy, as they like to say nowadays.
“We have a fairly clear action plan for moving forward, and each project is filled with concrete substance. If we also add the investment fund, one-third of which is already backed by projects, as well as projects aimed at tourism infrastructure, we are already talking about investments worth billions of dollars.
“Investments are generally made in friendly countries – in our case, brotherly countries – and usually in states where a favorable investment climate exists.
“Once again, I would like to return to the point I made at the beginning of my remarks. One of Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s great achievements is that, thanks to the reforms he has implemented, as well as his determination and wisdom, he has created precisely such an investment climate. Today, both international financial institutions and major global actors regard Uzbekistan as a country undergoing a successful stage of development.
“As your friends and brothers, we sincerely rejoice at this and are confident that all the plans you have set will be implemented. We will continue working together with you to bring our countries and peoples even closer,” the head of state said.
