President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has clarified the current situation regarding Azerbaijan’s membership in the World Trade Organization,  APA’s correspondent assigned to Davos reports.

“By the way, despite being invited for 30 years, Azerbaijan has not joined the World Trade Organization. This is because we want to preserve our economic sovereignty and our political sovereignty, while at the same time maintaining good relations with numerous partners. Look, we have strategic partnership documents signed with 10 members of the European Union. A comprehensive strategic partnership agreement has been signed with China. Discussions are underway on a strategic partnership charter with the United States. All of this is possible and does not contradict one another. When you have a clear vision for your country and your future, when you have strength, when your society is consolidated, and when you do what you believe is right regardless of who says what or what articles are written about you… I am especially optimistic in the context of relations with Armenia, because this is one of the rare cases where real peace has been achieved after three decades of war and bloodshed,” said President Ilham Aliyev as he addressed the panel session "Defining Eurasia's Economic Identity" in Davos.
