Shamil Alibeyli – APA. “We are satisfied with the level of preparation for the presidential elections in Azerbaijan,” Lidia Lawson, director of the Independent American Center of Political Monitoring, head office of which is located in Dallas, the United States told journalists, APA reports. She said that the organization started pre-election monitoring on October 6 and visited a number of polling stations yesterday: “We started observations today at 7:30 and visited 10 polling stations. Everything is going on according to the law. We spoke with election commission members and local observers and they said that hadn’t detected any violation. We will continue our observations until the closing of the polling stations.”
The organization has previously observed elections in Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Ecuador.
