He expressed with regret that during the meetings he attended, he has witnessed for the lack of detailed information on the Karabakh conflict among the most people in Europe. “Many people think that the conflict, as its name implies, is related to occupation of Nagorno Karabakh. They are absolutely unaware of the occupation of the 7 surrounding regions. Regardless the formats of my meetings, I inform the Europeans about the Karabakh conflict in the non-official part of the meetings. Sometimes they reproached me that such conversations are not official and suitable for my duty. However, I am trying to inform some Europeans about the reality. How can it be possible that in the 21st century, the territory of neighboring countries is occupied and its people are killed with no ground? This is a great injustice and rudeness in politics. I take advantage of every opportunity and try to clarify the truth. Though I am Latvian Minister, I should say that the lands of Azerbaijan where I am from originally, have been occupied by Armenia”, the Minister said.

Meetings are being held with the Azerbaijanis operating in Baltic countries within the joint project of APA Holding and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of Azerbaijan Republic titled “Azerbaijanis outside the border…”.
