“Azerbaijan is also a valued partner in defense and security, and this cooperation has never been stronger,” UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman said at a press conference today, APA reports.
“We aim to further deepen cooperation in the defense sector through training, closer defense ties and opportunities for cooperation that will draw on the United Kingdom’s defense expertise while supporting Azerbaijan’s own capabilities. The United Kingdom is proud to have been one of the first international partners to support demining activities in Azerbaijan, and we look forward to continuing this support to ensure the safe return of former internally displaced persons.
We work jointly with Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies to combat serious organized crime, including drug trafficking, illegal migration and cybercrime. The United Kingdom is proud to share its expertise while also drawing on the extensive experience and capabilities of Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, ensuring that both countries benefit from closer cooperation,” the ambassador emphasized.
The diplomat noted that Azerbaijan plays an important role in promoting stability across the wider region, which is crucial in terms of laying the foundations for security in the United Kingdom.
