The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (MFA) commented on the appointment of Turkish Colonel-General Bakhtiyar Arsay as an advisor to the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.

Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian MFA, answered the question of the Armenian journalist, "How does Russia react to the appointment of the general of a NATO member country as an adviser to the head of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan?" Why does Russia turn a blind eye to Azerbaijan's cooperation with Turkiye while it has a negative attitude towards the cooperation of the post-Soviet countries with NATO? as" there are foreign advisers not only in Azerbaijan but also in Armenia."

"I disagree with you. I see advisers who are citizens of foreign countries, not only in Azerbaijan but in other neighboring countries with Azerbaijan and Russia. There are such people in Armenia. Therefore, I do not accept your rebuke. Each country has a sovereign right to develop military and military-technical cooperation with its partners. However, of course, we believe this cooperation should not be directed to third countries and disrupt the balance of forces in the South Caucasus. We regularly convey this thesis to our partners in the region," said the Russian MFA spokesperson.
