The process of appointing NATO’s new Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia is nearing completion, NATO’s press service said in response to an inquiry from APA.

“The South Caucasus and Black Sea regions are important for Allied security. This is attested by long-standing partnerships that we have with different countries in the region, including Azerbaijan. The process for the appointment of a new NATO Special Representative for the South Caucasus and Central Asia is being finalised. We should be in a position to share more details in this respect soon,” NATO said.

Note that Belgium’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Julien de Fraipont, said in an interview with APA that NATO plans to appoint a new Special Representative for the South Caucasus in the near future.
