“First of all, I want to emphasize my regret not coming to tourist city Gabala so far which had been the capital of the Caucasus Albania for 600 years. In every sense, Gabala is a perfect city with its nature and people. I recommend everyone to visit this city,” Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said at a briefing following the trilateral meeting of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian Defense Ministers in Gabala, APA's local bureau reports.

Expressing gratitude to the Azerbaijani side for the hospitality, H.Akar added that he met and discussed regional issues and the situation of the countries with Zakir Hasanov and Levan Izoria, who had a common position on the South Caucasus.

“We exchanged views on the current state and perspectives of our cooperation. The geography of the three countries has strategic importance in terms of the development of important energy sources such as oil and natural gas. This geography is also a place where international actors meet. Thus, the cooperation of the three countries and their joint activity is very important,” Turkish Defence Minister stated.

Turkish minister noted that the cooperation of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Georgia is developing: “There is cooperation in the field of defence, military and security that serves the interests of the three countries. The new plans are being prepared. I believe that it will not be limited with only defence, military and security spheres, but will cover the other spheres as well. The scale of cooperation will expand. This cooperation will be an example for other countries. We will witness the positive results of the cooperation protocol signed in the field of defence between our countries.”
