A delegation from the State Border Guard of Latvia, led by General Guntis Pujats has arrived in Azerbaijan at the invitation of the Head of the State Border Service, General-Colonel Elchin Guliyev, the Press Center of the State Border Service (SBS) told APA.
It was noted that within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held on April 8 between the representatives of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Border Guard of Latvia.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that relations between the two countries, including in the field of border security, have been successfully developing, and it was mentioned that the mutual visits of the heads of the border guard agencies of Azerbaijan and Latvia in 2023 and 2024 have contributed to the successful development of joint cooperation activities.
The discussions provided detailed information about the work done to ensure border security along the state borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including in the liberated territories, and the creation of necessary infrastructure through the application of modern technical means and technologies.
The parties expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation and exchange experiences on issues of mutual interest, such as threats to border security, including smuggling, illegal migration, combating the illegal trafficking of narcotics, and other matters of mutual concern.
During the visit, the guests became familiar with the relevant structural units of the State Border Service.
