During a one-on-one meeting, the defense ministers of Georgia and Azerbaijan discussed the directions of defense cooperation between the two states, as well as regional security issues, was noted in the information of Defence Ministry of Georgia, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
It was noted that at the discussion, it was emphasized that the strategic partnership between the two countries is based on respect and trust, which is of great importance for the security and development of the region. The parties also paid attention to Georgia's Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative, which aims to encourage regional peace.
The ministers discussed issues of intensive bilateral cooperation between the defense bodies of Georgia and Azerbaijan. Mr. Irakli Chikovani noted that the great experience gained over the years contributes to the development of the defense forces of both Azerbaijan and Georgia. According to him, Azerbaijan and Georgia are strategic partners with the potential to ensure better welfare of their citizens.
It was noted that the parties also touched upon the Azerbaijan-Türkiye-Georgia trilateral cooperation format, which is an important unified regional platform for discussing various issues.
