One of those serving in the Azerbaijani Army is Emin Lin, who is of Chinese descent.
Emin is originally from Guangzhou, China. After 1998, the Lin family moved to Azerbaijan for entrepreneurial activities and started a new life in the capital.
The Chinese family’s five children, Mahammad, Aygun, Aydin, Emin, and Arzu Lin, grew up in Azerbaijan.
The young soldier, serving in military unit “N,” has earned the respect of his fellow soldiers and commanders. One of his distinguishing traits is his ability to speak four languages, which has attracted a lot of attention. Although he is called “Lin,” some of his fellow soldiers refer to him as “the Chinese.”
“When I first joined the service, my fellow soldiers found my Asian appearance interesting. They asked a lot of questions. Sometimes it was tiring, but I got used to it. I have made new friends here, and my relationship with the commanders is very good,” he said.
His brother has been a participant in anti-terrorism operations.
Emin Lin is not the first soldier in his family. His brother, Aydın Lin, also served in the Azerbaijani Army. He served in a military unit located in the liberated territories and participated in anti-terror operations.
Their sister, Aygun Lin, is a black belt master in hand-to-hand combat sports. She has represented Azerbaijan at international competitions, raising the national tricolor flag, and now works as a coach and instructor.
“I have not received a higher education. However, I speak Chinese, English, Russian, and Azerbaijani. My sister Aygun is a graduate of the Sports Academy, and my brother Aydin graduated from Baku State University. I also plan to pursue higher education in the future.”
Emin Lin serves in his military unit with discipline, engages in morning physical training, attends ideological lessons, and participates in various drills and exercises.
He emphasized that the military unit provides every possible condition both for the soldiers' rest and their professional training.
Emin said that their commanders possess high knowledge and skills and pay special attention to each soldier: "I do daily exercise according to the rules, and we conduct combat training lessons. Besides that, I spend my free time with my fellow soldiers. Everything is very interesting. I am very proud to serve in the Azerbaijani Army."
Emin also highlighted that he is very pleased with the recent further development of relations between Azerbaijan and China and the establishment of friendly ties between the two states.
"After my military service, I will start my own business and marry the girl who is waiting for me"
He stated that after completing his service, he will return to civilian life, start his own business, and build a family with the girl who is eagerly waiting for him: "I am practically engaged. We love each other very much. The last time we saw each other was when I left for military service, but we talk on the phone often. After finishing my service, I will start a family with her."

Emin Lin’s story shows that the Azerbaijani Army is also a great family that unites different peoples around one cause – love for the Motherland. Every citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, regardless of their religion or nationality, serves with equal rights – as a victorious soldier of a victorious army:
“I had read a lot about Karabakh in history lessons. During my service, I saw the truths I had read. Liberating the occupied lands under the orders of the Supreme Commander is a great honor. I am proud to serve as a soldier of the victorious army.”
