"Decent and safe return of IDPs to their homes, clearance of territories from mines, and reconstruction are main priorities," said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev at the international conference on humanitarian mine clearance activity, APA reports.
According to him, more work should be done for mine clearance: "Unfortunately, figures show that funds allocated for demining at international level decrease. International funds should contribute to the work. Azerbaijan presents a unique model. We want to present a model of a country, which has been cleared of mines. The conference may be a platform for financing mine clearance and application of innovation. We are open to cooperation."
Assistant to President has noted that Azerbaijan suggests the establishment of a global fund in this regard.
