Azerbaijan exports significant share of domestically produced military products

In Azerbaijan, volume of state defense orders more than doubled in last two years, with most military products directed to export, APA reports, citing Cabinet of Ministers' 2024 report.

It is noted that defense industry of Azerbaijan continues steady development as a result of purposeful policy implemented by President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief, with priority given to increasing variety of military products within Defense Industry Ministry’s agenda. The "Azersilah" Defense Industry Holding JSC, established with the aim of adapting Azerbaijan’s defense industry to modern requirements, has been mobilized to fulfill the responsible task of ensuring national interests. Currently, many production facilities under the ministry’s authority are operating, equipped with complex technological lines and equipment sets that minimize human labor through digital and extensive software solutions, as well as various types of machines, devices, tools, and equipment. The production of new types of products has been increasing year by year. In the last two years, the volume of state defense orders has more than doubled, and a significant portion of the military products currently produced is directed towards export.

It was noted that in 2024, enterprises under the Ministry of Defense Industry produced products worth a total of 781.8 million manats, which is 14.7% more compared to the previous year. In 2024, 55 types of armored vehicles, firearms, and other equipment were repaired at the ministry's enterprises, and contracts for the disposal of 336 different types of products were signed and fully executed.

In the reporting year, the total volume of products exported by the ministry’s enterprises amounted to 565.8 million manats.

As part of the 2024 Defense Order Program, experimental and design work was carried out on 63 defense-related products covering 59 topics. In 2024, the Scientific Research Institute of the ministry continued experimental and design work on 12 topics and scientific research on 8 topics related to the creation of defense-related products.
