"Total area of territories, cleared from mines from November of 2020 until October of 2022, is 56.573 hectares," Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov said in panel discussions at Baku International Conference of Ombudspersons and National Human Rights Institutions on "Role of Ombudspersons and National Human Rights Institutions in the fields of business and human rights" dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Ombudsman Apparatus, APA reports.
According to him, the areas to be cleared of mines this year are 40 thousand hectares:
"Up to 36,000 hectares of those areas have already been cleared, and the intended area will be fully completed by the end of the year. It is planned to increase the annual plan for demining to 65 thousand hectares."
