Today, 30 years pass since the successful Horadiz operation of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, APA reports.
As a result of the successful operation carried out by the Azerbaijan Armed Forces under the leadership of National Leader Heydar Aliyev on the night of January 5-6, 1994, more than 20 villages of Fuzuli district, Horadiz settlement and Jojug Marjanly village of Jabrayil district were liberated from occupation.
The personnel of the Brigade 702 demonstrated a great example of heroism in carrying out the Horadiz operation. The operation was the most successful operation carried out by the Azerbaijan Army in 1994. 8 people were awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan for displaying unparalleled examples of heroism in the operation.
Note that today, the veterans of the military unit that participated in the Horadiz operation commemorated the memory of National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor and laid flower bouqets in front of his grave. Later, they visited the grave of martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the grave of the officer of the military unit, the National Hero of Azerbaijan Elkhan Zulfugarov in the Alley of Martyrs, and commemorated their comrades who died in said battles. They also visited the Second Alley of Martyrs.
Colonel Shair Ramaldanov, the commander of military unit No. 702 at the time, which executed the Horadiz operation, shared his memories and thoughts about this operation. He stated that the Horadiz operation was written in golden letters in history as the most successful operation of the First Garabagh War:
"The Horadiz operation was led by Heydar Aliyev, who was the National Leader and the Supreme Commander at that time. Within two days, our warriors liberated 22 villages, the Horadiz settlement, including the village of Jojug Marjanly, and expelled the enemy from those areas. As a result of this, the enemy was forced to sign the Bishkek Protocol and the cease-fire period began."
