Recall that on January 14, 1982, with the participation of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, the opening ceremony of the mausoleum of the great poet and statesman Molla Panah Vagif (1717–1797) was held in Shusha. At that event, Heydar Aliyev supported the initiative of literary figures and gave instructions to hold the Vagif Poetry Days. The festival of poetry and art was first organized in July 1982.
