The longlist for the 2026 Booker Prize, one of the world's most prestigious literary awards, has been announced, APA reports.

The list includes 13 novels selected from 163 works.

Who are the members of the Booker Prize jury?

In accordance with the prize's rules, works published between October 2025 and September 2026 were evaluated.

This year's jury was chaired by writer and television presenter Mary Beard. The panel also includes poet, writer and educator Raymond Antrobus, musician and writer Jarvis Cocker, journalist and critic Rebecca Liu, and former Booker Prize shortlisted author Patricia Lockwood.

Who is on the Booker Prize longlist?

The longlist includes previous Booker Prize winners Marlon James and Douglas Stuart, as well as Elizabeth Strout, who was previously shortlisted. In addition, the list features 10 first-time longlisted authors, including three debut novelists.

The nominees include Chloe Aridjis's "The Shadow of the Object", Emma Cline's "Switzy", Makenna Goodman's "Helen of Nowhere", M. John Harrison's "The End of Everything", Marlon James's "The Disappearers", Luke Kennard's "Black Bag", Kenan Orhan's "The Renovation", Rebecca Perry's "May We Feed the King", Gwendoline Riley's "The Palm House", Elizabeth Strout's "The Things We Never Say", Douglas Stuart's "John of John", Djamel White's "All Them Dogs", and Missouri Williams's "The Vivisectors".

When and where will the Booker Prize winner be announced?

The Booker Prize shortlist will be announced on September 22 at an event at London's Southbank Centre. The winner will be announced at a ceremony on November 9.

The winning author will receive £50,000, while each of the shortlisted authors will receive £2,500.
