On October 6, near Aghband settlement of Zangilan district, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of a road bridge and border-customs infrastructure within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding “Between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the establishment of new communication ties between the East Zangazur region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran”, APA reports.
Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Co-chair of the State Commission on Cooperation in the economic, trade and humanitarian fields between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shahin Mustafayev and Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Developments, co-chair of the Commission on behalf of Iran Mehrdad Bazrpash attended the event.
The co-chairs specifically noted that the indicators of the road bridge and border-customs infrastructure will serve to increase the transit cargo transportation through the territory of the countries and facilitate travel to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The number of freight vehicles that can be received daily by the departure point from the state border, which will have 7 traffic lines, as well as the car bridge, will be at least 1100.
