The “North–South” transport corridor between the Baltic region and South Asia is nearly half the duration of the Suez Canal route — 15–20 days instead of 35–45 days, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev said during the International Transport and Logistics Forum, APA’s Moscow bureau reports.

According to him, 21.5 million tons of cargo were transported via this route in 2025.

Savelyev noted that since 2022, the capacity of checkpoints on the border with Azerbaijan has increased fivefold. Container transportation to Iran has risen by 60%, while average delivery times have decreased from 33 days to 16 days.
