Azerbaijanâ€™s state railways to be reconstructed as from next year

Baku. Ilhama Isabalayeva â€“ APA-Economics. The state program on the reconstruction of railways in Azerbaijan will be confirmed soon. APA-Economics reports that Azerbaijanâ€™s Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov said the main directions of the program is to carry out corporate reforms in state railways of Azerbaijan, improve management of railways, renew infrastructure of the railway, improve normative legal base and extend international relations of the railways. A great part of the program is predominated by infrastructural projects. The projects envisage reconstruction of Azerbaijanâ€™s state railways in line with modern standards.
â€œReconstruction of the railway will increase goods flow, create necessary conditions for the passengers, accelerate goods turnover, ensure security and deliver the goods to the owners in time. The project on reconstruction of railways approximately costs $2bn. The project will be implemented within four years. The implementation of the projects will possibly start early 2009,â€ he said.
