Vagif Khachaturyan's condition has been revealed

The condition of Vagif Khachaturyan, who is imprisoned in Azerbaijan, has been disclosed.

Head of the Intensive Care Unit at Yeni Klinika and adviser to the Executive Director of TABIB, Emil Gasimov, told APA that the 70-year-old male patient was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Yeni Klinika at 00:30 on December 23, 2025, in critical condition. He was diagnosed with pulmonary edema and severe respiratory failure that developed against the background of severe aortic stenosis, moderate mitral stenosis, and decompensated chronic heart failure.

Emil Gasimov noted that as a result of treatment measures carried out in the intensive care unit—including medication therapy, regulation of fluid balance, and non-invasive ventilatory support—positive dynamics have been observed.

“At present, the patient is considered to have passed the stage of critical life-threatening danger, but his condition is still assessed as serious. Treatment under intensive monitoring in the intensive care unit continues,” he said.

Recall that Vagif Khachaturyan was sentenced on November 7, 2023, to 15 years in prison after being convicted of committing genocide in the village of Meshali in the Khojaly district as a member of illegal Armenian armed groups.
