Another member of the transnational organized cybercriminal group, Sekrieru Ion Aleksandrovich, who was found by the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan and extradited to Azerbaijan, has been investigated in the criminal case, and the case has been brought to the Sumgait Grave Crimes Court for trial, APA reports.
Noted that the criminal acts of the transnational criminal network, which includes Ion Sekrieru, in contactless withdrawal of money from Azerbaijani ATMs, are particularly noteworthy because of their unique scenario.
It is obvious from the indictment that Ion Sekrieru and other members of the group operating abroad captured the names, passwords and other key functions of bank network entities through a malicious program they inserted into the computer systems of the banks of the Republic of Azerbaijan via e-mail. After that, gang members who used various fake identification methods came to Azerbaijan, approached the ATMs installed in Baku and Sumgait area, took the money provided by the ATMs as a result of the command they gave from outside via the Internet, without inserting any card and without physical intervention, and left the country.
Long-term operational and investigative measures made it possible to identify gang members who are citizens of different countries and were hiding in different countries one by one and extradited to the country. In addition to Ion Sekrieru, foreign citizens Danila Dorin Konstantinovich and Gubchak Sergey Aksentiyevich have been brought to the Republic of Azerbaijan for actions similar to the movie script accused by the State Security Service with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan under articles 273.4 and 177.3.2 (looting by unlawfully interfering with a computer system or computer data), and were sentenced to severe punishments.
