In order to ensure the reliable protection of the Republic of Azerbaijan's maritime borders, strengthen control over regime rules in the Caspian Sea, and continue comprehensive measures against smuggling and illegal activities, operations are ongoing, Azerbaijan State Border Service told APA.
On July 19, through the coordinated efforts of the Coastal Guard's coastal monitoring units and a border patrol vessel, a total of 26 kilograms and 325 grams of narcotic substances (24 kg 835 grams of marijuana, 1 kg 490 grmas of opium), 2500 Methadone M-40 tablets, 660 Pregabalin 150 capsules, 40 packs of Marlboro cigarettes, 10 packs of Milano cigarettes, and 5 TITAN cigars were seized and prevented from being illegally smuggled into the Republic of Azerbaijan via the Caspian Sea.
Operational-investigative measures are continuing regarding the fact.
