As part of the ongoing counterterrorism and operational-search measures carried out by the State Security Service (SSS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Namig Rashid oghlu Aghalarov, who had been on the international wanted list since 2009, was detained, brought to Azerbaijan, and placed under investigation, APA reports.
It was reported that Namig Aghalarov is accused of participating in 2008–2009, as part of illegal armed groups in Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries, in setting up armed ambushes against personnel of the UN-mandated International Security Assistance Force, using remotely controlled explosive devices, and organizing armed attacks against representatives of international organizations, citizens of various countries carrying out international missions, as well as logistics networks.
There is also information that Namig Aghalarov, who had hidden in various countries under different names over the past years to evade responsibility, was engaged in jihadist and radical religious propaganda activities.
