Baku 2025 operational-tactical exercise was held at Baku International Sea Trade Port in Alat settlement, Garadagh district of Baku city, organized by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, focusing on the topic of "Organization of interaction with state bodies in the field of prevention of emergencies and elimination of their consequences", the Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.

The exercise was attended by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel General Kamaladdin Heydarov, high officials of agencies responsible for combating emergencies of member countries of the International Civil Defence Organization, high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects, State Reserves Agency, ANAMA, TABIB, AZCON, SOCAR, bp, Public Council under the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other organizations.

The exercise was held with the view of implementing a joint action mechanism for rescue forces and vehicles during large-scale emergencies, determining their real capabilities, improving the management system and, in this regard, enhancing the operational readiness of headquarters, conducting emergency rescue and other urgent actions, organizing mutual action and comprehensive support.

First, the equipment and machinery of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other involved agencies were reviewed.

Then, a video connection was established with the crisis management centers of the agencies responsible for emergency management at the exercise headquarters, and reports were made by the relevant agencies on the work done regarding the exercise.

Then the practical part of the exercise started.

According to the exercise plan, a simulated destructive earthquake occurred 110 km southeast of Baku, with its epicenter in the Caspian Sea. As a result of the "earthquake", high-rise buildings and industrial enterprises were damaged and infrastructure networks were disrupted in a number of cities and regions. It was reported that there were casualties among the population and some people were trapped under the debris.

In response to the simulated incident, the forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, in coordination with relevant state agencies, immediately began to carry out search and rescue actions, extinguish fires caused by the earthquake, and take other necessary and urgent measures. A "fire and rescue operation" was successfully carried out to eliminate the consequences of the simulated earthquake.

In the end, a parade of helicopters flying over the exercise area with the Azerbaijani State Flag and the International Civil Defence Organization flag was held.

The exercise involved a total of 1250 personnel, 8 helicopters, 277 units of special-purpose equipment, and 14 specially trained dogs from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, State Agency for the Protection of Strategic Objects, State Reserves Agency, ANAMA, TABIB, AZCON, SOCAR and bp.

The goals set in the successfully implemented exercise were achieved.
