Azerbaijan SBS prevents smuggling of 30 kg of drugs from Iran -PHOTO

An attempt was made to smuggle a large amount of narcotics into Azerbaijan, the Press Center of the State Border Service told APA.

As a result of ensuring reliable protection of the state border and measures taken to combat the illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances and their precursors, the smuggling of 30 kilograms 596 grams of the narcotic drug marijuana and 3,200 units of the narcotic drug methadone M-40 pills from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.

On November 28, as a result of the vigilance of the border guards in the service area of the “Lankaran” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, 9 kilograms 530 grams of the narcotic drug marijuana and 3,200 units of the narcotic drug methadone M-40 pills were discovered.

On December 3, as a result of complex operational-search measures carried out jointly with the employees of the Lerik District Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Elcan Eldeniz oglu Mansimov, born in 2003, was detained as a suspect, and a total weight of 21 kg 66 grams of marijuana, a narcotic substance, was discovered and seized in the service area of the border detachment.

Operational-investigative measures on the facts are continuing.
