On December 5, 2024, the inaugural Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan NGO Forum began in Tashkent, APA reports citing Azerbaijan's State Support Agency for NGOs.
The official opening ceremony featured the national anthems of both countries.
Kamoliddin Ishankhojayev, chairman of the Board of the National Association of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations of Uzbekistan, recalled with satisfaction the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan NGO Cooperation Forum held in Fuzuli in November 2023, noting that the current forum continues this collaborative process.
Mahir Jafarov, Advisor of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan, highlighted that the involvement of NGOs in the high-level relations between the two countries adds a new dimension to their cooperation.
The official opening ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Senate of the Supreme Assembly of Uzbekistan, as well as a group of NGO representatives from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
A video presentation about Azerbaijan was also shown during the forum, which will continue with various sessions.
