Azerbaijani NGOs have responded to a campaign in Armenia concerning the visit of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to the liberated territories, APA reports.

In a statement issued by representatives of Azerbaijani civil society, the reaction of various circles in Armenia to the diplomatic corps' visit to Karabakh and East Zangezur was strongly condemned.

The statement noted that these reactions are regarded as actions directed against Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity and constituting interference in its internal affairs.

"These actions, coordinated from a single center in Armenia, are an open provocation aimed at seriously undermining the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda and disrupting the ongoing normalization process between the two countries," the statement said.

The NGOs also criticized Armenia's approaches to historical and cultural heritage. They stated that the policy of denying the history of the Azerbaijani people and the heritage of Caucasian Albania must be brought to an end.

The statement noted that Armenia had occupied Karabakh and East Zangezur for 30 years in the past and that cultural heritage in Azerbaijani territories had been damaged.

Representatives of Azerbaijani civil society called on the Armenian government to remain committed to the peace agenda and take measures against individuals and organizations making irredentist calls against Azerbaijan.

It was noted that the Azerbaijani state would take the necessary measures to prevent such actions directed against the country.

The statement was signed by the heads of 52 NGOs.
