Executive Director highlights significance of Global South NGO platform initiated by Azerbaijan

The establishment of the Global South NGO Platform is a very important innovation brought by COP29, Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Agency for State Support to NGOs Aygun Aliyeva said during today’s briefing, APA reports.

According to her, such large-scale global initiatives have earned Azerbaijan significant appreciation.

“We are immensely proud that, for the first time, an initiative by Azerbaijani NGOs has received such global support. During Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, its intense efforts and major initiatives aimed at establishing a new and fair world order, as well as the achievement of the 'Baku breakthrough' during COP29, have generated great sympathy toward the Azerbaijani state across the Global South. This event marks a new beginning for civil society in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani NGOs will now establish new connections and deepen cooperation with NGOs from Global South countries,” Aygun Aliyeva emphasized.
