Over the past three years, the network security of more than 457 state institutions in Azerbaijan has been transferred to the Azstate network, ensuring their local protection, said Tural Mammadov, head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Security (SSSCIS), at an event on cybersecurity in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
He noted that Azerbaijan's local protection policy is not limited to internet resources:
"This also applies to the special communications and state communications services provided by our service. Even if there is an interruption in the global internet connection today, the operation of all state information resources in our country will be fully ensured. This also applies to special communications. Special communications and radio-communication services provided to power structures and critical infrastructure institutions do not depend on any mobile network and operate locally. In addition, the Teams platform we apply in state institutions is one of the tools that minimizes our external dependence as an alternative local solution to WhatsApp."
