Azerbaijan is actively participating within PostEurop, and the country’s experience is important for the organization, Elena Fernández Rodríguez, Chairwoman of the PostEurop Board of Directors, told journalists on the sidelines of the PostEurop General Assembly 2026 in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
She said Azerbaijan actively participates in various committees and working groups of the organization, particularly in the fields of philately and international relations.
“Azerbaijan’s knowledge and experience are very important for our members. We are trying to maintain a balance between large and small countries. I believe Azerbaijan is one of the countries we can rely on in the transformation process,” she said.
The PostEurop chair also touched upon changes taking place in the postal sector. According to her, the organization’s strategic directions are being reviewed in light of developments around the world in recent months.
“We operate in a highly competitive market. We must ensure that PostEurop remains an organization that is relevant and creates real value for its members,” Elena Fernandez Rodriguez noted.
She stressed that amid a decline in the volume of traditional letter mail, the need to diversify the activities of postal operators is increasing.
“Letter mail is no longer the main business area for any of us. E-commerce can create significant added value. At the same time, we also have opportunities in areas such as financial and IT services. We can expand our services and network,” the PostEurop chair said.
According to her, one of the organization’s main goals is to provide member postal operators with the necessary tools and support to develop new services.
