"By 2030, the volume of emissions from the information and communication technology (ICT) sector could reach up to 8% of the global total," Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rashad Nabiyev said as he highlighted the importance of digital technologies during his speech at the High-Level Roundtable on the Green Digital Action, APA reports.
“It is estimated that the ICT sector will contribute between 1.5% and 4% of global emissions. Research shows that by 2030, emissions from the ICT sector could reach eight percent of the global total. In response to these challenges, many countries have optimized their data centers by achieving up to a 40% reduction in energy consumption through innovative cooling technologies and energy management systems.
