In 2022, a legislative provision was adopted in Azerbaijan to grant a special regime to companies operating in the IT sector, and as a result, the number of companies that are now technopark residents has reached approximately 165, Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev said during a meeting dedicated to the unified action plan titled “Azerbaijan’s New Digital Architecture,” held under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev, APA-Economics reports.
“Ten of them are foreign companies, and the revenue generated by them in this field is around one billion manats, and we believe this does not reflect our country’s full potential. The key indicator for us is our export figures in this sector. Unfortunately, our exports in this field amount to around 100 million US dollars. We believe that if the measures reflected in the Action Plan are implemented, we can increase this figure from 100 million to one billion dollars and even higher,” the minister added.
