The 42nd session of the ICAO Assembly is being held at the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told APA-Economics.
According to the information, Azerbaijan is represented by a delegation of the State Civil Aviation Agency at the event, which was attended by 2,639 representatives from 181 countries and 53 international organizations.
At the plenary session of the opening day of the session, Azerbaijan was awarded the "Certificate of High Achievements" of the President of the ICAO Council for its achievements in establishing an effective flight safety control system and implementing ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices.
The ICAO Assembly session is held once every three years with the participation of high-level representatives of states. Along with the ICAO Council, the Assembly is a governing body and meets to analyze the work done, determine the organization's policy, and approve the budget. The program of this year's session includes discussion of the report on the activities of ICAO over the past three years; elections to the ICAO Council; discussion of reports of committees and commissions on various areas of civil aviation; consideration of the organization's financial activities and budget for next years.
Bilateral meetings of the Azerbaijani delegation are planned during the session.
