Head of State Service: Cybersecurity is becoming a national security issue

"CIDC-2025 is a strategic platform that brings together government agencies, critical infrastructures, the financial and telecommunications sectors, private companies, and international partners. This platform not only strengthens Azerbaijan's leading position in the field of cybersecurity but also creates new opportunities and new tendencies," said Ilgar Musayev, Head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, at the “Critical Infrastructure Defense Challenge 2025” (CIDC-2025) event held in Baku, APA reports.

He stated that he expressed his deep gratitude to the organizing committee, the European Union, the Estonian e-Governance Academy Foundation, all partners, sponsors, volunteers who spared their efforts in bringing this project to fruition, as well as media representatives who have generously supported the coverage of the event. "In recent years, geopolitical and technological processes occurring globally and in our region have brought information security and the protection of critical infrastructures to the forefront of national security agendas of states. "The ‘Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Information Security and Cybersecurity for 2023–2027’ serves by being our main roadmap in this direction, ensuring the continuity, resilience, and reliability of our state’s information space.”

He noted that, precisely for this reason, the events organized within the framework of CIDC-2025 hold special importance: “Here, efforts are made to enhance the cyber defense capabilities of critical information systems, simulate management scenarios in crises, and implement new technological approaches.

In this regard, the “Cyberwarfare in Smart Cities” competition to be held carries special significance.

Teams from 20 local and 5 foreign countries will test their knowledge and skills in this competition through real scenarios. This competition is not just a platform for competition — it is also an important opportunity to learn, gain experience, and strengthen cooperation.”
