The laying of a fiber-optic cable from Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan along the bottom of the Caspian Sea is planned to begin in the summer of next year, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Sameddin Asadov told journalists, APA-Economics reports.
He said that the work on laying the cable is expected to be completed, and the cable will be put into operation by the end of 2026: "Analysis of the route in the bottom area of the Caspian Sea where this cable will pass has been completed. In the near future, the company carrying out these works will submit a report to the operators and project participants. Work has also begun on the production of a fiber-optic cable to be laid along the bottom of the Caspian Sea. The production of the cable will be completed by the summer of 2026."
