As a result of investments made in digital infrastructure in Azerbaijan, the number of data centers in the country is increasing, said Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Samir Mammadov during his speech at the "Baku Energy Forum," APA-Economics reports.
The Deputy Minister noted that laying fiber optic cables parallel to green energy corridors is an important step not only in terms of energy transmission but also for the expansion of digital infrastructure.
"Currently, several data centers are operating in the country, and we are already working on the construction of new ones. The new digital corridors we are developing will accelerate this process,” emphasized Samir Mammadov.
The Deputy Minister also added in his speech that the concept of digital corridors is not only a technical transit point but also carries great importance in terms of regional cooperation and economic integration.
“Building fiber optic infrastructure over green corridors, as well as through the initiative called ‘Digital Circle,’ creates a connection with the Black Sea region. This means new opportunities for cross-border e-commerce, startups, freelancer markets, and digital services,” he said.
