With the World Economic Forum (WEF) Center for Energy and Materials, 40 global solution concepts that include identifying existing challenges related to energy consumption, researching and applying appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in Azerbaijan have been prepared, the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) told APA-Economics.

According to the information, an article titled “How Azerbaijan is leveraging AI for sustainable energy transformation” and a report document titled “Artificial Intelligence’s Energy Paradox: Balancing Challenges and Opportunities” on the successes of the project were published jointly with the Forum on the eve of the 2025 Davos Forum.

Strategic Cooperation Platforms:

Within the framework of the Strategic Intelligence platform, the integration of Azerbaijani universities and research centers into a global knowledge platform that includes a wide range of content on more than 250 topics and solutions is being implemented. With the support of C4IR, it is planned for local partners to join the platform as a content provider in 2025.

According to the Global Collaboration Village platform, Azerbaijan is included in the list of 10 most active partners out of 142 partners. With the support of C4IR together with SOCAR, it is planned to create a virtual pavilion of Azerbaijan by the Forum in 2025.

Cooperation with Coursera:

More than 10,000 citizens have successfully completed 4,200 courses within the framework of the “C4IR Academy”. Starting from 2025, 200,000 Azerbaijani citizens will be provided with free 6-week access to 8,000 courses on the online learning platform.

The “4IR Academy” project, implemented jointly with C4IR and TIF, was selected as the winner of the “Artificial Intelligence Innovation Excellence Award 2024” among 42 countries within the framework of the “Coursera Network Conference” held in Las Vegas, USA.

Attracting investments to Azerbaijan’s Digital Economy:

C4IR, together with the Investment Policy and Practice Platform of the WEF, conducted surveys with more than 100 local and foreign enterprises investing in the country’s digital economy at the initial stage and conducted interviews with 15 enterprises. The report was published.

As a result of the project, 13 policy recommendations were developed and 3 main directions were identified. The successful results of the project were highlighted in an article titled “From oil to algorithms: Azerbaijan's journey to digital excellence” and a report titled “IDEA: Investing in the Digital Economy of Azerbaijan” on the Forum’s website, which has 3 million views. In the next stage, an investment calculator will be developed with WEF and UNESCAP to attract foreign investors.

SIRI (Smart Industry Readiness Index) and COSIRI assessments:

WEF, the only digital maturity assessment method officially adopted by WEF and applied to more than 850 enterprises operating in different sectors in 30 countries around the world, created by the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDB) in collaboration with McKinsey, Siemens, SAP and TÜV SÜD to accelerate digital transformation on a global scale, has also been applied in Azerbaijan in companies such as Azergold and SOCAR Polymer, within the framework of the joint cooperation of C4IR and MEXT Technology Center. It is planned to be implemented at the Azertechnolayn Steel Pipe Plant from 2025.
